NATIONAL SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS
During the National Science Fair Christ the King High School was represented by our two students namely: Thabo Maibi and Thabang Mposho in the category of Electronics and Environment respectively. The two projects presented won First Prizes in their respective categories.
In the Electronics category Thabo Maibi won a gold medal and was awarded a certificate and a smart phone from Econet Telecom Lesotho.
The name of the project is sound charger. It converts sound waves into electrical energy and charges the cellular phones (all models).
On the Environment Research category Thabang Mposho and Thabo Maibi (as parteners) won first prize and were both awarded certificates. Their project Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and other harmful gases are converted into oxygen. During the conversion the pressure of the gases in increased for turning turbines in order to produce electricity.
One of the projects was invited for presentation at SIT (Science and Information Technology week) at Lehakoe Recreational Centre in Maseru.

SIT WEEK (SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY)
SIT week is celebrated annually worldwide. It is celebrated during the second week of September every year and this year it was celebrated from 7th to 9th September at Lehakoe Recreational Centre. The celebration is done by inviting different countries to share experiences, achievements and challenges.
This kind of event is always orginised by the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology. During the 2016 the Minister of Communications, Science and Technology invited other SADC countries including Botswana, Namibia, Malawi and Swaziland. The ministry also invited different companies and organizations like Econet Telecom, Post Bank, UCMS (Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System), LSMTA (Lesotho Science and Mathematics Teachers Association), Standard Lesotho Bank. Ten students country-wide were also invited both at Primary and Post Primary to showcase their projects.
Our student Thabo Maibi was awarded a gold trophy and Certificate by the ministry. We are really proud of our two students Thabo Maibi and Thabang Mposho.

CHRIST THE KING BEATS SACRED HEART TO CLAIM HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL LEAGUE (HSBL)

HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL LEAGUE
RESULT: Christ the King High School 55 – 31 Sacred Heart High School
DATE: Saturday 20th August 2016
VENUE: Lehakoe Recreational Facility
Christ the King High School Basketball Team edged out Sacred Heart High School Basketball Team 55 – 31 on Saturday to claim High School Basketball League trophy. These games are commonly known as Top 4
These games (Top 4) were preceded by what is commonly known at Top 8. Thirty-two (32) schools are divided into three regions: Central Region, Southern Region and Northern. Eight schools from these regions battled it out in Teyateyaneng in the Berea district.
The schools that qualified for Top four were: Christ the King High School, ‘Mabathoana High School, Methodist High School and Sacred Heart High School.
On the 20th August 2016 (Saturday) those schools headed for Top Four at Lehakoe Recreational Facility in Maseru. The games were off to a flying start with ‘Mabathoana vs CKHS and Methodist vs SHHS. At the end of the games the results were as follows: ‘Mabathoana 21 – 38 CKHS and Methodist 32 – 48 SHHS. This meant that CKHS and SHHS had to fight it out in the finals whileMethodist and ‘Mabathoana fought for the third place.
Ironically the finalists were both Makoleche, Rhinos vs Bana ba ‘Mapoho. CKHS took control of the game from the very onset, dominating possession throughout the entire game. At the end CKHS had 55 with SHHS trailing behind with 31.
So Christ the King High School were crowned HSBL champions for 2016 – 2017.
Khotso Nyapane from Christ the King High school was awarded a trophy for the most valued player. Well done Bana ba ‘Mapoho!! Together as a team we can conquer all. Lets transform all that energy into our studies as well!

GEOGRAPHY FAIR

This fair was organized by Geography Association, it was held at Mapoteng High School on the 23rd September 2016. There were eight schools participating. Each school made a presentation on Climate Change (Global Warming), this was for senior students only, junior students were given a topic from the curriculum. A student from those respective schools was given five minutes in which to make his/her presentation.


Some students had also made some projects which they also presented and there was also some quizzes to compete in.
On the quizzes Christ the King High School was represented by Thapelo Ramotšabi, Thabo Teisi and Thabo Lebona. They got first position and were awarded a trophy.
